Since the new writers have taken over, ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers have been wondering if they hate Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), are they relaying on the cornerstone of the show to energize it, or are they retiring the character?
They’re all good questions given how the old and new writing teams turned everyone against him as they had his family betray him, his wife, and now that Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) has returned, he’s done the same thing but for different reasons.
At this point, it feels like the writers are trying to figure out where they’re going since the first time we saw Jason and John “Jagger” Cates (Adam J, Harrington) and Jason together.
Alone in the police interrogation room, Jagger told him they had evidence against him, and it’s what Jason told Sonny and that made him a liability and traitor to Sonny and for good cause.

In that business, anyone that would sell out to protect themselves and not tell those that trust them what’s going on can’t be trusted.
And given how Jason apparently feels Sonny will blab to everyone and ruin his deal shows his lack of trust in Sonny.
Of course, by then it turns out Jason is protecting Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), most likely from her time running Sonny’s organization when he was in Nixon Falls.
A slight tweak, but that made more sense than just protecting himself, yet he refused to tell Sonny because Jagger would somehow know and that would break their deal.
Seriously?
And when we add in how everyone else has betrayed Sonny without taking a second to think of how he’d react to their actions, it feels like the walls as closing in.
This was before Vallentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart)’s plan to mess with Sonny’s meds took affect, so why is this happening?
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Back to basics and moving on
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers considers this a soft reboot, so what happened in the past will be ignored, tweaked, and used as the new writers see fit to work in their universe.
That being said, this feels like they’re going back to basics by having Sonny having to fight to survive like his early days.
It puts him against the world and forces him to become more feral and clever to survive.
It’s also a way the writers could be planning to have Jason take over his business since Maurice has talked about retiring in recent memory, and sending Sonny to prison for life or killing him would fit that bill.
If he’s in prison, he could appear here and there, but it’s curious if he’ll forgive everyone since he’s the voice of reason on a show where Carly’s universe often trumps what’s really happening.
