In fact, there are a lot of reports that say the Queen made a last-minute decision to allow Princess Beatrice’s fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi to spend Christmas with the royals at Sandringham House. Here’s why.
According to reports, the Queen felt sorry for Princess Beatrice and all of the stress that she has been under lately. Not only is she trying to plan her royal wedding to Edo, but she also has to deal with the humiliating headlines that have been generated thanks to her father, Prince Andrew. In order to lift her spirits up, the Queen decided to allow Edo to join the rest of the family for Christmas. In fact, the decision was made so late in the day on Christmas Eve that the Italian property developer had very little time to prepare for the trip.

One source even told the Daily Mail, “Put it this way, if Edo were a woman there simply wouldn’t have been time to get a selection of different dresses, hats and coats together. He’s lucky it’s slightly easier to pack a variety of suits than it is to find as many as ten dresses. Still not that many men have more than ten different clean shirts hanging in the wardrobe, let alone that many different suits and a black- tie to hand at short notice.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time that Queen Elizabeth has bended the rules for her grandchildren. Back in 2017, Meghan Markle was allowed to spend Christmas with the royals, even though she was just Prince Harry’s fiancé at the time. Unfortunately, Kate Middleton was not allowed at Sandringham House back in 2010 when she was engaged to Prince William.
