‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers Reveal that Steve Burton’s ‘Days’ at the Peacock soap, Day of Our Lives, are numbered. Steve Burton joined the cast of Days of Our Lives spin-off Beyond Salem in April 2022. He played the role of Harris Michaels, which he originated on Days in 1988.
After Beyond Salem ended in July 2022, Burton signed a one-year contract to play Harris Michaels on Days of Our Lives. His contract started in March 2023, which means his time in Salem ends in March 2024. Steve will be free to pursue other opportunities. Or perhaps, go back to his roots.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Steve Burton May Be Back On GH
Burton was fired from General Hospital in November 2021 due to the vaccine mandate, which has been lifted since November 2022. This cancellation means that there is hope that Burton may decide to return to GH to play the beloved character, Jason Morgan.
Rumors of a Jason resurrection got fired up when Wally Kurth, who plays Ned Quartermaine/Eddie Maine on GH and Justin Kiriakas on Days, hinted during a podcast interview that Steve could soon be back on General Hospital.
Jason Morgan was a significant character and fixture in the Port Charles mob world. There is no denying that if he were to come back from the dead, it would shake things up in Port Charles.
First, there was no closure between Jason and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) after Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) came home from being in Nixon Falls.
They were married not even hours before Sonny burst through the door and claimed back his bride. Undoubtedly, old feelings were coming up for them, and it was never addressed after that.
Also, there is always the matter of his relationships with his two baby mommas. Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) would love to see his return. These two women sure would love to be able to tell their kids that Jason is alive after all.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Sonny Needs a Competent Right-Hand Man
Sonny needs Jason as his right-hand man. He knows what he’s doing. As cute and charming as Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) is, he is no Jason Morgan.
Dex couldn’t properly dispose of evidence when he indiscriminately tossed the Pikeman flash drive into the dumpster. Jason would have known how to ensure the evidence disappeared without a trace.
Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) would be thrilled to see Stone Cold alive. Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) would love to have her star client back to pay her the big bucks. The Quartermaines would also be happy for Jason’s return.
Even though Burton was dropped from his coveted role as Jason Morgan on GH, at the time of his exit, he had these lovely words to say to the fans:
“I am excited to see what the future brings. And maybe one day, if these mandates are lifted, I can return and finish my career as Jason Morgan. That would be an honor.”
To put it in simple words, ‘Days of Our Lives’ may have been where Burton got his start in 1988. However, it is clear that ‘General Hospital’ is, and always will be his home.
