‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveals that there was no 11th hour reprieve for Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison). He was sent to Pentonville Penitentiary to serve his three-year sentence for illegal trading. Since no one came to his rescue at the last minute, he is going have to do his best to serve his time safely.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Sentence Surprise
When Drew made the decision to sacrifice himself so that Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) would not have to serve any time, he did it in a calculating way. The deal that his lawyer, Zeke Robinson (Gavin Houston) made with the prosecution was that Drew would serve six-months in Spring Ridge, a minimum-security facility.
When the judge passed sentence, he thought that he should make an example of Drew. He was going to sentence him to the maximum sentence of twenty years, but Zeke argued that he has never had a record, he has a distinguished military service record, and there was no financial gain from the inside information.
Drew did not make any money on the deal because the anticipated merger did not go through. It was actually Carly who acted, but Drew was trying to take her place, so she’d not have prison time.
The judge listens to this argument and decides to give Drew three years at Pentonville instead of six months at Spring Ridge. This is overwhelming and difficult to accept, but Drew has no choice since he made himself vulnerable. Zeke asks for a little time so Drew can arrange his affairs.
Drew turns in his passport so he is not a flight risk and has time to say “goodbye” and make arrangements.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Surprise Visitor and Gift
When Drew arrives to turn himself in, he is booked and issued his uniform. Then he is taken to his cell where he will spend the next three years. As soon as he arrives, he meets Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober).
Cyrus comes to his cell with a Bible in hand and welcomes Drew. Cyrus knows all about Drew and asks him to come to his weekly meeting.
When Drew asks his name, he realizes who is talking to. He says he wants nothing to do with Cyrus and his meetings. Cyrus is Martin Grey’s brother (Michael E. Knight) and Mayor Laura Collin’s (Genie Francis) half-brother.
He is an infamous drug runner and is involved in mob activities. Drew doesn’t want anything to do with him, but Cyrus told him that he has found religion.
Cyrus tries to give Drew a Bible for reading, but Drew at first declines. Finally, Cyrus manages to get Drew to take it. After Cyrus leaves, Drew opens it and finds that it has been hollowed out. It contains a shiv.
What is the purpose of this? Does Cyrus know that bad times are coming, and Drew needs to defend himself? Or is Cyrus going to try to get Drew to join him in illegal activities?
