Let’s address a few strange rumors here, rumors that we have absolutely no proof of, but they are going around nonetheless. There is a rumor going around from a certain trans youtuber named Justin, who claims that Dylan Mortensen, one of the surviving roommates in the Idaho 4 murder case, was recently attacked because she is trans.
This youtuber claims to have heard from sources that Dylan was trans and that she had just recently had surgery within the last month and that the medications that she was on apparently caused her kidneys to function at 50% but the thing is…
From the photos on Dylan’s instagram… we see no proof of this.
Dylan does not look like she is, at any point recovering from surgery, or suffering from kidney failure of any kind. She looks to be the picture of health and living life to the fullest. Why this person has chosen right now to spread this rumor when the the survivors and the victims’ families are going through enough, is… well.. Beyond the pale.
Was Dylan Mortensen attacked for being trans?
The thing is, even if Dylan were trans, why would a fellow trans person out them like that? Until Dylan deems it “safe” to come out themselves, no one else should be outing them. Even so, there is absolutely no proof that this rumor is even true, and as far as we know, Dylan is a female, so unless she says otherwise, we’re going to stick with that story.
In other appalling rumors, this same youtuber was saying that Ethan Chapin, one of the Idaho 4 victims, was not in fact in a relationship with Xana Kernodle, that she was only his “beard” and that Ethan was actually gay for pay. Again, even though there is no immediate danger for Ethan himself, his family is hurting, why would someone even entertain such a rumor as fact when the wound is as fresh as it is for the victims’ families?
Certainly, this trans youtuber must realize that outing someone of any sexuality or gender idenity is not safe, and more importantly, not the issue that we should even be focusing on.
Four promising young people were murdered in cold blood. That’s what we should be focusing on, not petty, high school level rumors about people, one of which who isn’t even here to defend themselves. Society can stand to do better, and focus on the actual facts of the case at hand. Stay tuned!!!
