Tee Higgins, a receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals, expresses relief that Damar Hamlin is recovering well following his medical emergency on Monday, disclosing he has been in touch with the Bills safety’s mother since the game. During the Bengals and Bills’ Monday Night Football game, Hamlin tackled Higgins just before he passed out on the field. The former Clemson standout said that when he saw what was occurring, he knew it was a serious matter.

“At first, me being a football player, I’m thinking he just flopped,” Higgins said after practice on Thursday. “I looked again and seen what happen, I just turned my head and not think about it. I knew it was something crazy. Something tragic. It was hard.”

“I’m in a good place right now.”

Damar Hamlin Update: Tee Higgins Says He Is “In A Good Place” After Hearing Hamlin’s Good Health News

Higgins visited the hospital to check on Hamlin after the game was called off, and he has remained in touch with Damar’s family ever since. “Damar’s mom hit me, texted me this morning, and told me about everything and it made me feel even more at home,” Higgins said. To hear Higgins say Tee is doing well is encouraging because, of course, some misguided people have apparently blamed Tee for the medical issue (something Bart Scott was accused of doing).

Before heading out with the rest of his teammates for practice, Higgins seemed to collect his thoughts and reflect. Hamlin is significantly improving while receiving round-the-clock care in a hospital in Cincinnati; on Wednesday night, he even managed to write to the nurses to ask who had won the game on Monday.

Higgins acknowledges that moving on will be difficult, but as a football player, he must shift his attention to taking the field this Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.

What do you think? Are you glad to hear the news and why would people be blaming Higgins for what happened? Let us know in the comments below.
