British Royal News says there’s a good reason why Meghan Markle didn’t accompany her husband Prince Harry to Scotland to see Queen Elizabeth one last time before her death. There are sources that say the Duchess of Sussex would have gotten a rather cold reception at Balmoral Castle, as all of the senior members of the royal family were there to pay their last respects to the queen before she passed away on Thursday. Here’s what you need to know.

Meghan stayed behind in London on Thursday, forcing Harry to make the trip to Scotland solo. According to BBC royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell, it was a last minute decision, as Meghan did want to go see the queen. However, he said that the duchess would have not been “warmly welcomed, to be perfectly candid about it,” she said.

Unfortunately, Harry was photographed arriving rather late to Balmoral Castle and only several hours after his grandmother had died. He was also one of the first people to leave Scotland back for London on Friday morning.

That said, Meghan did pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth on their Archewell Foundation website. They showed a black screen with a simple message written in white letters: “In loving memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 1926-2022.”

Queen Elizabeth died at Balmoral Castle in Scotland after doctors said they had become concerned about her health on Thursday. In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

King Charles, who was previously known to the world as Prince Charles, has completed his first task on the job as both he and his wife, Queen Consort Camilla greeted cheering crowds as they arrived at Buckingham Palace on Friday. We will update you with all of the latest details from Buckingham Palace as they come in.
