Let’s just say that this hasn’t been the best year on record for Kanye West. Not only has he lost his wife and his family, he also lost his Instagram account temporarily and now it looks like he’s going to lost $7 million out of pocket. According to new reports, Kanye is being sued by a production and design firm that worked on several of the rapper’s live performances. Here’s what you need to know.
Reports say that Phantom Labs worked on projects including the musician’s Donda 2livestream release, a Free Larry Hoover concert with Drake and his canceled 2022 Coachella performance. According to legal documents obtained by media outlets, the firm claims West promised the fees would be paid following his headline slot at the world-famous music festival, which ultimately did not go ahead.
Kanye West Is Being Sued For $7 Million
“We are incredibly proud of the work that we did with Ye and are disappointed that such a fruitful relationship has come to this,” a spokesperson for Phantom Labs said, in a statement provided to Variety. “A celebrity weaponising fame and reputation to take advantage of eager collaborators is simply unacceptable.”
The lawsuit alleges that a total debt of $7,154,177.67 was accrued between June 2021 and March 2022. The documents acknowledge that the company was paid for some of its early work, but indicate that those payments arrived only under pressure.
So far Kanye has not made any comments about the lawsuit. Earlier in the year, Kanye was pinning – or maybe even harassing – his ex-wife Kim Kardashian by pleading for her return while also taunting her boyfriend, Pete Davidson. If that weren’t enough, he’s also posted some questionable things about other high-profiled celebrities and has also made some rather racist statements about Trevor Noah. And this is all because he wants Kim to get his daughter North off of TikTok.
