Caitlyn Jenner spoke with Piers Morgan on his new show regarding trans athletes in female sports and Caitlyn understands that they went through male puberty and thus, has an unfair advantage over women now. Caitlyn compares it to when they go golfing and jokes around that going with the women is much more fun than with the men, saying the conversations are better, but that they would never compete in the women’s golf tournaments.
Golf, as we all know, is not a contact sport by any means but Caitlyn still has a gross advantage over the other women and says they can out-drive them by 100 yards. Why? Because Caitlyn’s arms are longer, broader shoulders, taller, and because they went through a male puberty.

This has been a hot debate for several months, especially since Lia Thomas joined women’s swimming and dominated. They went from a middling male swimmer to a dominant female swimmer and took the first place trophy away from a woman. Now, what I think is interesting is what Caitlyn said about how she doesn’t blame Lia for this, they were put in that situation because right now the rules don’t account for trans.
As an athlete myself, this is one area I tend to be pretty passionate about because sports are so much different than living everyday life. In sports, a transgenders sex matters, and it accounts for a vast series of advantages particularly in a male to female transition. I agree with Caitlyn to a point, but I think there needs to be another division for trans. Mind you, this isn’t exclusion, which many people like to try to argue. Think about wrestling or boxing. Even in the males league, there are seperate divisons based on weight. Is that excluding a 250lb fighter from a 180lb fighter? Absolutely. It’s an exclusion to separate athletes on their physical measurements.
Caitlyn offers a truly unique position having been a Gold medal-winning male Olympic athlete and transitioning later in life. Caitlyn understands the differences and I think brings up some good points and it’s always good to hear from someone who has gone through a unique experience.
