‘Jeopardy’ fans have gone through the ringer when it comes to dealing with a plethora of ‘guest’ hosts since the passing of Alex Trebek in November 2020. New permanent host, Mike Richards barely got his name on the dressing room door before he stepped down from the position amid accusations of past offensive comments (and was fired from his position of executive producer on both Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune).
Fans have finally gotten used to never being sure of who they’ll see standing behind the podium, even though the hosting duties are now only split between two hosts- actress and neuroscientist, Mayim Bialik and Jeopardy! G.O.A.T, Ken Jennings.
‘Jeopardy!’: Who Will the Permanent Host Be?
Unfortunately, another new change may be coming sooner rather than later with Bialik explaining to Entertainment Tonight that she only knows she will be filming new episodes up until May 6.
The Big Bang Theory alum assured fans, though, that she hopes to keep delivering those clues beyond her current contract.
“I would love [to host Jeopardy! full-time],” she told ET correspondent Lauren Zima before explaining due to the nature of her work that she has, “lived season to season, since I was about 13 years old.
Though there has been no indication from NBC or Sony Pictures Television, some fans are already hopping on the Mayim-train, hoping to get their first ever full-time female host. Bialik agrees it would be an honor.
“I think being a female is its own mark,” she said. “My grandparents were immigrants to this country, so I think for me, being in two generations being a woman and a host in that iconic role blows my mind.”
Of course, some Bialik fans wondering if she has time in her busy schedule. Starring in the two-time Critics’ Choice award winning Fox sitcom, Call Me Kat was one of the reasons the actress had signed up to be host of tournaments and prime-time specials only (until coming to the rescue after the Richards debarcle).
While Bialik has plenty of fans in her corner, so, too does Ken Jennings. Many purists of the quiz show think it is a natural progression to have Jennings go from G.O.A.T. to host. Jennings does have a certain charisma while hosting (and Bialik a Joie de Vivre), however, off color past tweets from Jennings have lost him some supporters. Jennings also ahs a busy schedule, taping as a Chaser for the ABC trivia show, The Chase.
Who do you want to see continue host Jeopardy, Mayim or Ken or both? Perhaps there is someone different you think deserves a chance behind the podium?
