‘Jeopardy!’ has just had another record smashed by champ, Amy Schneider, who, with her 39th consecutive win on Monday, has clocked the second longest winning streak in the history of the quiz show.

Matt Amodio, a champion from earlier this season has slipped down the ladder to number three, with his 38 consecutive wins. Now the new number two has no one left in her way as she guns for number one- current host, Ken Jennings.

In 2004, Ken amassed an unbelievable 74 consecutive wins before his tenure in regular game play was thwarted and the man who shares the stage with Amy night after night is her biggest cheerleader, and comfort.

“Just knowing that he knows what it’s like to be in the position I’m in, it’s really kind of comforting having that on stage,” Amy said.

By the end of her Monday night, record taking win, Amy had earned herself a total of $1,319,800, but it was when Ken announced that Amy had slipped past Matt in number of wins, it finally began to sink in for the engineering manager from California.

“[When] Ken said it, I thought, ‘Alright, I just accomplished this huge thing’ and it was pretty great.”

Amy is also excited about facing off against Matt later this year at what promises to be one of the hottest Tournament of Champions competitions to date.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity, it’s going to be a tight competition,” Amy promised.

Amy also admitted that initially she thought that beating Matt for most wins might just be the intimidation factor she needs coming into the upcoming tournament, she realized it may, in fact, backfire as a strategy. Only now has she realized how much pressure she is putting on herself.

While it is likely to come down to a tight Matt/Amy finish, these two more than worthy opponents would be remiss to forget about the other champs they will be facing off against when tournament time rolls around. Who doesn’t want to earn the bragging rights of taking out seed 2 and 3 in all of Jeopardy history?

Watch Amy’s streak continue on Jeopardy!, weeknights on ABC.
