‘Jeopardy!’ champion, Amy Schneider has finally been dethroned, losing after missing Final Jeopardy! on Wednesday night, a rare occurrence during her blistering reign of, in the words of guest host, Ken Jennings,  40 days and 40 nights.

The most successful woman to compete on the popular quiz show said that, after she was finally bested by neon-bespectacled Rhone Talsma, she handed out thank you notes to the crew, spoke briefly with her fellow contestants, then excused herself.

“I went in the bathroom, cried for about 30 or 40 seconds, pulled myself together, and headed out,” Amy told the New Yorker. She added, “It wasn’t just a feeling of sadness, there was a sense of relief. It was so exhausting.”

Amy began taping her episodes in late September. By the time she concluded her awe-inspiring run, it was November 9. In order to take such a long and unexpected break from work, Amy had taken a demotion, used up all her paid time off, and had even had to take several unpaid days.

Luckily, she was able to hold on to her job as the $1,382,800 winner is yet to see a cent of her winnings. Though Amy has been tweeting about her performances, and has been recognized as she watched herself win (and win and win) over a glass of sauvignon blanc at a local bar, she has been unable to discuss her red hot streak until now.

“It started airing when I knew that I had done this kind of historic thing and nobody else knew anything about it,” she said, in regards to being the highest-winning woman in the show’s history and now holding the record for the second-longest streak in the show’s history, behind G.O.A.T, Ken Jennings.

42 year old Amy is being regarded as a bit of a G.O.A.T. herself these days.

“The depth and breadth of her knowledge are remarkable,” remarked one of the 82 contestants that faced the trivia beast during her run, Terry Wolfisch Cole.

And this beast managed to do it all while sporting a simple string of pearls, how now-signature touch. The necklace was a gift from her 25 year old girlfriend, Genevieve Davis, whom Amy mentioned many times during her tenure.

No doubt this self-confessed cat-loving couple are relieved they no longer have to hold onto Amy’s million-dollar (+) secret and have to be looking forward to seeing the check in the mail!

Amy, we salute you…and can’t wait to see you again at the Tournament of Champions.

    Jeopardy! airs weeknights on ABC
