A private citizen may or may not have done more for Ukraine during their war with Russia than politicians have. This is up for debate, and sanctions put on Russia are already beginning to take effect and drop their economy, but will that be enough to help the Ukrainians in their war efforts?

Meanwhile, Elon Musk has been positioning his Starlink satellites over Ukraine and hooking them up with internet so they can improve communication as their country continues to experience power outages due to Russia’s invasion.

“Starlink service is now active in Ukraine. More terminals en route.” Musk tweeted.

Mykhailo Fedorov, the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine tweeted at Elon asking for Starlink stations and Musk responded with action instead of ‘well wishes’. While internet access may seem like a small thing, in war, and with power outages, communication is key, and providing the country with high-speed internet is a great move, especially by a private citizen.

Of course, there have been mixed responses to this, simply because of who Elon is and his previous tweets. Some people are continuing to demonize him and pulling up old things he has said to discredit him. The Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine literally asked Elon for help, and Elon obliged. He’s helped more than many of us have and can, and maybe even some of other governments from around the world.

Meanwhile, on the other side, people are demonizing the Vice Prime Minister for his “rude” tweet and lack of saying thank you. I’m no genius, but I think in this situation, this is one of those “I’ll say thank you” later and not when I’m in the middle of a war.

Overall, I think this was a great move and will go a long way for the Ukrainian people, regardless of what keyboard warriors type from the safety of their homes.
