There’s nothing that brings family closer together than tragedy, scandal, or in this case, a royal controversy that might bring the monarchy down on its knees. Or at least, that’s what some critics believe. There’s a new report that says because of their father Prince Andrew’s legal court case.
The Duke of York is being sued by his accuser Virginia Giuffre as she says that she was trafficked and forced to have sex with the royal when she was still a minor. Because of this scandal, Andrew’s daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice have found themselves getting closer together. Here’s what you need to know.
Princess Eugenie And Princess Beatrice Brought Closer Together For This Reason
Royal expert Jennie Bond believes that Eugenie and Beatrice have been spending a lot of time consoling one another under these very difficult circumstances. She told OK! Magazine, “They are very close as sisters, they’re very supportive of one another and I think all the turmoil they’ve had in their young lives has brought them closer together.”
She continued: “In the royal family, there is such a limited circle of friends and family who can understand your situation. But then I always thought that William and Harry would understand any situation but clearly, that’s not true. “But with Beatrice and Eugenie, I’ve not heard of any disruption of their relationship,” she added.
That said, Prince Andrew’s legal team argued during a video conference that Virgnia Giuffre waived her right to sue the Duke when she signed a $500,000 settlement agreement with convicted sex offender Epstein in 2009. During the hearing, the Prince’s lawyer said: “It’s unquestionable that Prince Andrew could have been sued in the 2009 Florida action. He was not. And therefore he was a ‘potential defendant’ and a release under the 2009 settlement agreement by its unambiguous terms.”
Prince Andrew has pretty much been canceled both in public and behind closed doors because of his association with Jeffrey Epstein and a new lawsuit that has been brought against him. However, Prince Andrew has asked a U.S. court to dismiss Virginia Giuffre’s sexual abuse lawsuit, as his legal team believes it’s “frivolous.” Virginia alleges that she was forced to have sex with the Duke of York on a number of occasions while she was still a minor.
Lawyers for the Duke of York say he “unequivocally denies” sexually abusing or assaulting Virginia Giuffre, now 38, and described her lawsuit as “frivolous” and an attempt to “achieve another payday at his expense.”
