Louie Anderson, Emmy winner, comedian, and game show host died Friday in Las Vegas from complications related to cancer, his publicist Glenn Schwartz has confirmed. He was 68 years old.

Anderson was one of 11 children in Minnesota and was a counselor for troubled children when he won the first-place trophy in a 1981 Midwest Comedy Competition. It wasn’t long before his comedic chops landed him on Johnny Carson in 1984 and his career skyrocketed.

However, it was his hosting of ‘Family Feud” in 1999 that made Louie a household name and opened doors for him into acting.

It was just a few days ago that Anderson was taken to the Las Vegas hospital to be treated for Diffuse large B cell lymphoma. He was reportedly resting comfortably and seemed like something he could beat. He had just revealed that he lost nearly 40 pounds during the pandemic and it seemed like things were looking up for Louie.

Unfortunately, he was unable to win his battle and passed shortly after arriving. On Thursday, fellow comedian and friend Pauly Shore tweeted out to “keep him in your prayers”,

“Attention comedians and @TheComedyStore alumni’s I say this with a heavy heart just left the hospital in Las Vegas where Louie Anderson his sisters and close friend were kind enough to let me say my goodbyes he’s still with us but keep him in your prayers”

Anderson is survived by his two sisters, Lisa Anderson and Shanna Anderson. Rest in peace Louie, make God laugh.
