One shot, two shots, three shots for all! Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles are doing their part in encouraging everyone to get their booster shots for COVID-19, especially since the Omnicron variant is spreading throughout the UK. Here’s what you need to know.

Both Prince Charles and his wife Camilla have confirmed that they have received their booster shots and are encouraging everyone else to do the same.

“To all those who have not yet had the vaccine – or are hesitating before getting a booster – we can only urge you to look at the evidence in our intensive care wards and listen to those who work there,” the royal couple said.

They added: “We urge everyone to get vaccinated and to take up the booster, as we have done ourselves.”

In addition, Charles and Camilla  paid tribute to the “remarkable ingenuity and determination” of those involved in creating and delivering millions of doses since Margaret Keenan, at the age of 90, received the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine in Coventry on December 8 2020.

Back in February, Queen Elizabeth said that she wanted people to stop being “selfish” and for them to get the vaccine. In a  video call with health leaders delivering the Covid vaccine across the UK, the Queen was asked about her experience.

She likened the community spirit to get vaccinations done to the experience of the country during World War II. The Queen, who rarely talks about her own health, added: “It didn’t hurt at all.”

She said, “Well, once you’ve had the vaccine you have a feeling of, you know, you’re protected, which is, I think, very important. And as far as I can make out it was quite harmless, very quick. And I’ve had lots of letters from people who’ve been very surprised by how easy it was to get the vaccine.”

Being the Queen she is, Her Majesty also highlighted the fact that being vaccinated helps protect everyone, not just the person who gets the shot.

“It is obviously difficult for people, if they’ve never had a vaccine, because they ought to think about other people rather than themselves,” she said.
