The mystery surrounding this case just deepens each day. There’s a new report that says the autopsy for Brian Laundrie’s remains came back inconclusive, according to the Laundrie family attorney. Here’s what you need to know.
Just last week, local authorities confirmed that the skeletal remains found during the month-long search for Brian Laundrie near the Carlton Reserve were his. “They are human remains, no doubt there. I would say that the remains were consistent with one individual, you know skeletal remains,” North Port Police spokesperson Josh Taylor told the press.
Autopsy Of Brian Laundrie’s Remains Are Inconclusive
However, NBC News says Brian Laundrie’s remains were sent to an anthropologist “for further evaluation” after autopsy results came back inconclusive. “No manner or cause of death was determined,” Laundrie family attorney Steven Bertolino said in a statement to NBC News.
With that said, Bertolino was not given a timeline for when the anthropologist will conclude the evaluation of Laundrie’s remains, which he said will ultimately be cremated. He also added that the Laundrie family is “grieving privately somewhere in Florida” over the death of their son.
A nationwide manhunt for Brian Laundrie — named a person of interest in the case — began last month. Gabby Petito‘s cause of death was strangulation, and the manner of death was homicide.
The 22-year-old was reported missing and found dead after she and her boyfriend Brian Laundrie embarked on a country-wide road trip this past summer. However, Laundrie returned home to Florida on September 1st without his girlfriend, and 10 days before her mother reported her missing.
