In a statement released on Twitter today, Leigh Anne Spears Wrather, 54, of Springfield, TN, said that Britney’s treatment was a true testament to how the Spears family ‘treats its women’. She then went into detail about her own struggles with abuse under Jamie Spears’ Father, Britney’s Grandfather, and gave us a more complete picture of who Britney’s late Grandmother was.
She said of her Mother, that she was like a debutante, the life of the party, but that their Father literally drove her to insanity, and put her on the same drug that Britney was put on – Lithium.

She didn’t go much further into detail than that, but now we know where Jamie Spears gets his controlling tendencies from.
We also got a clear picture of how the Elder Spears treated the kids as well, Wrather says that she started being sexually abused at 11 by this man, and finally made her way out at 16 when she asked a friend to meet her at a local mall right after he had raped her one last time.
There is no real timeline of events here other than the ages, and we don’t know if this happened before or after the death of Jamie Spears’ brother, whom Mrs. Spears ended up taking her own life over.
She said that her Father instutionalized her Mother at Mandeville quite a few times, and put her on Lithium, doesn’t that sound familiar? She said when she heard what Jamie Spears was doing to his daughter she couldn’t believe it, but she wasn’t surprised.
Knowing all of this now, we can see where the tendencies come from. Although, if you think about it, why did both Lynne and Jamie-Lynne dodge a bullet? Jamie didn’t really see a point in controlling Lynne the way his Dad controlled his Mom, and he pretty much let Jamie-Lynne do as she pleased, so aside from money, was there any particular quality that Britney had that made him think that she needed to be under his thumb for so long?
It begs the question.. was this conservatorship really due to a Father’s concern, a Father’s greed, or a young boy’s revenge against his Mom for being in a situation she couldn’t control? The truth will come out in the court documents, I suppose. Stay tuned!!!
