ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal we’ve only recently been introduced to Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaugnessy) recently. We weren’t watching back in the day, so this is the only version of the character we know. But we’re enjoying him so far. Let’s talk a bit about our thoughts on this character, why Peter August (Wes Ramsey) needs to look out, and the actor’s own insights into his return, as told to Soap Opera Digest.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Hello, there
First, General Hospital spoilers reveal Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) got the shock of her life when she woke up in what she calls a gilded cage. The last person she expected to be her captor was the supposedly-dead Victor. We loved watching these two go back and forth and how casually Victor turned the tables on her, with help from Peter.
We also got a kick out of his reaction to Liesl’s warnings about trusting Peter. He remained cool and collected, and we see a real presence in him that commands attention. So it will be fun to see where he goes from here.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Warning…
However, we do believe someone better beware. And when we say, “someone”, we mean Peter. Sure, he acts all big and bad around everyone he shows his true face to. But we have a feeling this guy is in way over his head when it comes to Victor, so he better learn to temper his hubris a bit. Victor doesn’t strike us as a fool, and we don’t see Peter being able to sneak one over on him. Especially after Liesl helpfully warned Victor. This guy has a whole compound at his disposal, and we have no doubt that the majority of Peter’s exploits are largely thanks to Victor. Maybe even Peter’s own survival. We just don’t see someone managing to find their way out of a freezer on their own when nursing the type of head injury Peter had. So, it’s very likely Victor’s people saw what happened and rescued him when the coast was clear.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: On the return
First, the interview made mention of how this character was once played by a Days of Our Lives co-star. Someone Shaughnessy got to work with again on Beyond Salem: Thaao Penghlis (Tony DiMera).
Said Shaughnessy, “It’s really kind of unique to the soap universe that you can do this, that a character will die and be resurrected by another actor.” DOOL is a great example of that, as is GH. And we also find it interesting these characters and stories can keep going through another actor, even without a back from the dead story.
While it doesn’t always work well by comparison, it’s always fun to see different people have their take on a character. And we can’t wait to see what is next for this one in particular.
Reason being, the actor described his character as not being a purely evil character. He’s just someone who is 100% out for #1 and has no moral compass about achieving a goal. Said the actor, “That’s kind of scary—and fascinating.” We totally agree.
