Has she not been reading any of the headlines, media reports, or gossip blogs in the last month? When everyone says that Prince Andrew is Queen Elizabeth’s ‘favorite son,’ that must certainly be true because there’s a new report that says the Queen wants him to keep his honorary military role, despite the fact that he is being sued by an alleged sex trafficking victim. Here’s what you need to know.

According to ITV News, Queen Elizabeth has reportedly told insiders she wants the Duke of York – or mummy’s favorite, if you will – to remain as colonel of the Grenadier Guards.

One source close to the situation put it this way: “The Queen has let it be known to the regiment that she wants the Duke of York to remain as colonel, and the feeling is that nobody wants to do anything that could cause upset to the colonel-in-chief. It is a very difficult, unsatisfactory situation.”

The source added that the duke’s honorary position is “not tenable or viable” and the regiment feels it is “not appropriate to retain him.”

However, lawyers for Virginia Giuffre say they believe Prince Andrew will end up in court after their client filed a lawsuit on Monday against the royal. In the lawsuit, brought under the Child Victims Act, Giuffre claims the prince sexually abused her on multiple occasions.

Giuffre’s lawyer, David Boies, says he has no doubt that the case will come before a jury.

He told the site, “This case will come before jury, the jurisdiction of the federal courts in New York I think is unquestioned, the conduct took place in New York. This case is not going away. Virginia Giuffre is not going to go away, and I’m not going to go away. This case is going to go forward, whatever obstacles that they try to put in front of us, we will overcome, once this case goes to court.

He added: “A civil case is really the only avenue that she has to seek vindication, obviously there are criminal authorities who can do their own investigation but she can’t control what they do or don’t do. The only thing she can control is what she does. This lawsuit is an attempt to vindicate not only her interests but the interests of many young women who are sexually trafficked every day across the United States and across the world.”
