Former small screen actress, Allison Mack will be spending the next 3 years on prison. She was sentenced today thanks to her role in ‘racketeering’ as a high-ranking member of the NXIVM cult. After serving her 3 year sentence she will be required to undergo a further 3 years of supervised release and will be required to pay a $20,000 fine.

Prior to sentencing, Mack’s submitted a letter, apologizing to those she harmed with her actions during her time with the cult.

“I am sorry to those of you that I brought into NXIVM,” she wrote. “I am sorry I ever exposed you to the nefarious and emotionally abusive schemes of a twisted man.”

Keith Raniere, Mack and several other NXIVM leaders were arrested in 2018. Raniere, who went by the name Vanguard and lead the cult was sentenced to 120 years in prison on racketeering charges.

It was recommended Mack receive between 14 and 17 years for her crimes, which included keeping slaves, holding blackmail ‘collateral’ and branding women with Raniere’s initials. Prosecutors had asked the judge to give lower than the recommended sentencing range because Mack provided “substantial assistance” when it came to prosecuting other NXIVM leaders, including Raniere.

Mack’s attorneys had asked for her to receive no prison time and though the judge agreed that Mack was likely also manipulated by and felt held captive by the cult, he could not ignore that Mack was “an essential accomplice” and a “willing and proactive ally.”

The prosecutors’ request for a lesser sentence was granted however, the judge imposed a sentence that would deer others from doing similar and punctuated the seriousness of the crime.

The NXIVM cult is still in operation with hundreds of members still referring to Raniere as the Vanguard, even though he will never be released from prison in his lifetime.
