Much beloved, late Jeopardy! host, Alex Trebek proves he is still very much in people’s hearts after being honored by some very famous faces at the 48th Daytime Emmy Awards.

Along with two other greats lost in 2020/21- Regis Philbin and Larry King, the In Memorium special began with several tributes to the Canadian game show host, starting with the Canadian Prime Minister- Justin Trudeau.

Speaking of Trebek’s tenure as Jeopardy! host, entertaining millions, the Prime Minister remembered how he, “never missed an opportunity to stump contestants with questions about Canada.”

He went on to mention Trebek’s philanthropic side, protecting and conserving Canadian land. “He donated 62 acres of land in Nichols Canyon because he understood that the environment is so important, in the same way that laugher, compassion, and kindness are to our health and our well-being.”

The Canadian maple leaf stood tall as Trudeau finished, “When I got to talk with him a few years ago, he expressed to me how proud he was to be a Canadian. I had to tell him that all Canadians are incredibly proud he’s one of us as well.”

If a heartfelt tribute from one world leader wasn’t enough, U.S. first lady, Dr. Jill Biden also honored Trebek. She recalled meeting him during a Jeopardy! episode honoring educators and, along with his warmth and humor, remembered of the octogenarian, “What stood out most was that, even though he never worked in a classroom, he too was an educator. Alex made us feel like learning was for everyone. He made it fun, exciting, and competitive”

She than thanked the late host for, “teaching us, inspiring us, and bringing us together, Alex. We miss you.”

Good Morning America host Robin Roberts and comedian Ken Jeong also spoke highly of Trebek who won a posthumous Emmy yesterday for Outstanding Game Show Host. Jeopardy! also won for Outstanding Game Show with Executive Producer, Mike Richards accepting the statue and also sending out a tribute to Trebek.

The In Memorium section was accompanied by Diamond White (Paris Buckingham on The Bold and the Beautiful) singing a heartfelt, original song. Diamond first rose to fame as a singer on X-factor and has shown off her singing sills on the soap.
