Mike Richards, Executive Producer of Jeopardy! recently recalled Alex Trebek’s last days on the Jeopardy! set saying, “Alex extolled the virtues of everyone opening up their hands and their hearts to those who are suffering.”
It only makes sense that Alex continues to give posthumously. The much beloved and long-running game show host died of pancreatic cancer in November of 2020 however, his legacy will live on. And in more than just his fan’s hearts.
Alex Trebek’s Jeopardy! wardrobe has been donated to charity.
Men who need assistance clothing themselves for job interviews will literally be able to fill Alex Trebek’s shoes!
Alex’s wardrobe including suits, dress shirts, belts, ties, shoes and more have been donated to The Doe Fund, a non-profit organization that provides services to Americans battling addiction, homelessness or incarceration in their pasts. The business attire will be distributed to men participating in the Doe Fund’s ‘Ready, Willing and Able’ program which assists those who need help reentering the workforce.
Matthew Trebek, Alex’s son, is a supporter of The Doe Fund and made the suggestion that his father’s wardrobe be donated to help those working to rebuild their lives. This was a gesture praised by his mother and wife of the late Alex, Jean Trebek.
Over 450 pieces were donated, much to the gratitude of the president of The Doe Fund, Harriet McDonald.
“We are so grateful for Jeopardy! and the Trebek family’s commitment to lifting up the most vulnerable among us,” she said. “The men in our career training programs are always in need of professional attire, so they can shine in their job interviews and work with confidence once they’re hired. This donation alleviates the obstacle of not having appropriate clothing.”
Confidence?- check! Imagine the much needed boost these men will gain by rocking up to a job interview in Alex Trebek’s power suit!
