Ellen DeGeneres is ending her talk show after 19 seasons, stating that she just doesn’t find it “challenging” enough, even though the truth of the matter is, she no longer has the ratings she had before all of the bullying and toxic work environment allegations were made.

Clearly, many of Ellen’s fans have stopped tuning in ever since it was revealed that Ellen isn’t the ‘nice’ person she wants people to believe she is on television. Here’s what you need to know.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ellen is pulling the plug on her talk show after more than 3,000 episodes. Apparently, Ellen told her staff about the decision on May 11 and plans on discussing the news with Oprah Winfrey on Ellen’s May 13th show.

“When you’re a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged – and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore,” DeGeneres told the Hollywood Reporter.

Reports say that Ellen’s daytime talk show has dropped dramatically in viewership following the star’s toxic workplace scandal that dominated headlines last year.

Citing Nielsen ratings, the New York Times reports that The Ellen DeGeneres Show has lost over 1 million viewers over the course of the show’s 18th season.

The show was investigated for its “toxic work environment” following allegations made that Ellen is perhaps one of the most difficult people to work with in the entertainment industry.

“Although all good things must come to an end, you still have hope that truly great things never will,” says Warner Bros.’ Unscripted TV President Mike Darnell, who apparently is a big fan of Ellen.

He calls her series “an absolute phenomenon,” having established itself over nearly two decades on air “as the premiere destination for both superstars and incredible heartfelt human-interest stories.”
