If you remember anything about pop culture of the 1980’s you’ll remember the video vixen, Tawny Kitaen, who was in a lot of the White Snake videos. She was also famous for the movie “Bachelor Party” which she starred in with Tom Hanks at the height of her career. Throughout the 80’s and 90’s she was in a lot of music videos (not just White Snake’s) and was also on some TV shows.

However the one that stands out in my mind is America’s Funniest People, a video show similar to America’s Funniest Home videos, if you were a kid in the early to mid 90’s, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.

Every Sunday night after AFV, another video show would come on, in a slightly different vein, in fact one could even say that it had a similar format to  early youtube, in a way. (Everyone remembers when youtube was just cat and kid videos, right? Yeah… that time of youtube fame.) America’s Funniest People went around to what looked like malls and other pavillions and asked people to do the stupidest things possible on camera.

There was an entire Rocky and Bullwinkle rap by two people dressed as the iconic characters, along with two military dudes putting whipped cream in their shorts (I never understood the point of that), and it was all hosted by Dave Coulier, AKA, “Uncle Joey” from Full House fame, and Tawny Kitaen, a woman whose cultural significance I had no idea about it.

Kitaen was married twice, once to White Snake’s leader, David Coverdale from 1989-1991. Then from 1997-2002 she had a tumultuous marriage to baseball player Chuck Finley, with which she had two daughters. Her death was listed under her married name of Tawny Kitaen Finley, no real word on how she died, but the coroner’s office just said it was a residential death, so she died at home.

In the current pandemic crisis, one doesn’t like to speculate, but one wonders if that held any kind of contributing factor. We won’t speculate, instead we’ll just send our deepest condolences to her family this Mother’s day, because there are two girls that are missing their Mom today. Stay tuned for updates.
