With all the humdrum going on in Genoa City, CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers thought we’d stir things up a bit by switching some characters around in a fun what if.
Of course, it could easily turn into a “yep, it happened” scenario at some point given how relations often change at the drop of a hat.
In this case, we thought we’d dive into the possibility that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) were switched at birth or when they were babies or younger.
This makes sense in some interesting ways if we let our imaginations play, but there are a few logical reasons for it as well.
CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Adam’s an Abbott
Adam has an edge to him that’s very similar to his father, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), but his gambling tendencies align more with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson).
Since it can be argued both are genetic, Adam could pass for Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman)’s son. Add to it he’s also driven like Victor and Jack, and it seems more plausible.
Then there’s Adam’s tendency to want to show Victor up and take him down on a regular basis. For the most part, the other Newman children haven’t tried it as often, but Jack has.
That’s three marks for Adam being an Abbott.
Not too shabby, but those can be argued the other way. Or maybe not and Adam’s a secret Abbott Victor keeps helping to keep him close?
CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Kyle ‘s hiding his Newman side
Kyle has his moments, but he’s been more naïve and simple than he should be most of the time.
‘Young and the Restless’ joke about him not being the sharpest tool in the shed, and while he’s not, there could be another reason.
Kyle could be holding back to fit in with the Abbotts, and playing dumb is the best way to do that.
Over the years, Jack has mellowed and Kyle’s followed his lead, but what if Kyle had been surrounded by siblings being taught to prey on those weaker than him.
Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) rebelled and he and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) share a bond thanks to their frustration with Adam and Victor, but how would Kyle have managed in there?
We’re currently seeing Victor pitting his children against each other to earn his pride and atta boy/girl pat on the back he gives.
Kyle could step in and be the problem child Adam is, and he’d be able to sharpen his teeth.
He’d fit in perfectly with the environment Victor created with love and cross fighting.
Add in how Kyle doesn’t like saddling others with his problems fit in perfectly with the Newman mentality.
Of course, more likely Kyle would’ve been fodder for Victoria and Nick to sharpen their teeth on before he’d mouth off to Victor and be swatted down.
This is a fun scenario, but it could lead to some fun ideas. Do you think they could swap with each other? Who else do you think could change places and fit in better in their new family?
