‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers find that star Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) might be a lot of things to a lot of different people, but he sure isn’t a retiree. In fact, when asked about the possibility of retiring from daytime television, the soap star said “hell no.” Here’s what he has to say.
Believe it or not, Eric Braeden is celebrating 41 years as Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless. That’s 41 years of epic soap acting and greatness from the man, the myth and the legend himself.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Eric Braeden Has No Interest In Retiring
When asked by People Magazine if he has any plans on changing up his daytime gig as he approaches his 80th birthday on April 3, Eric said, “I feel very loyal to The Young and the Restless, very beholden to Victor and very beholden to the audience who has supported us for all those years. I intend to stay as long as I can.”
One reason why Eric doesn’t want to leave the show is because he’s bonded so much with his co-star Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) over the years.
“She has put up with me and I sometimes am not the easiest guy to get along with, sometimes,” he said, adding, “I love my life. I love my colleagues. I love my family and friends. So do I see myself retiring anytime soon? Hell no! My life has been enriched by having been introduced to so many things.”
Clearly, fans love Eric, too. Many have commented on his People Magazine article with, “Good, Eric has more than earned the right to play Victor as long as he wants,” along with, “I remember the whole that was left in the show when Victor left town for his heart issues years ago during the MAB era. Victor is a big part of this show. No way around it.”
