For Salma Hayek, she certainly understands why Alec Baldwin’s wife Hilaria Baldwin went to extreme lengths to lie about her supposed Spanish heritage while also faking an accent in front of the world for many long years.

The Hollywood actress says that while the story is certainly bizarre, she understands because in all honestly everyone “lies a little bit.” Here’s what she has to say.

The mother-of-five and yoga guru made headlines in late December when it was revealed that her Spanish accent isn’t real and that she was born in Boston and not in Mallorca, Spain, as was previously implied.

Salma, who once guest-starred on 30 Rock alongside Hilaria’s husband Alec, opened up about the scandal during an appearance on Radio Andy.

She told host Andy Cohen, “Oh my God, that is crazy. All of my friends ask me, ‘Did you hear about this? Oh my God, she lied!’ We all lie a little bit.”

“[Hilaria] makes my friend [Alec] happy. She feels me because she’s such a good mother,” the actress confessed during the radio interview. “She has five [kids] and you know, I don’t care. I’m sorry, I don’t mean to betray or hurt anybody’s feelings and I don’t know if it’s right or if it’s wrong. I’m not going to judge somebody just because of that one thing.”

If that weren’t enough, Salma also said that it felt like an honor to have someone want their alter ego to be similar to her own roots.

“It makes me feel proud that people are inspired because, you know, I am Mexican, Lebanese, but my grandparents, my ancestors on my mother’s side are Spanish,” the actress explained. “I think she’s smart to want to be Spanish. We’re cool.”
