Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers indicate that alum Michael Muhney has shared some very personal news with his fans on Twitter this past week. The actor, who is best known for his role as Adam Newman on the hit CBS soap, admits that he has contemplated suicide many times in the last few years. Here’s what he has to say.

Michael was let go from his The Young and the Restless contract back in 2014 after a five year run on the show. Actor Justin Hartley took over as Adam Newman before leaving in 2016. The character is now portrayed by Mark Grossman. And while Michael has had some small guest roles here and there on primetime television, he’s experienced some difficult times. He admits that things haven’t been very easy for him, both personally and professionally speaking.
“I’d think about my life insurance policy for my wife & kids,” he tweeted. “I’d imagine drifting across that double-yellow line into oncoming traffic and ending it all. All over a grotesque internet rumor & lie.”

Thankfully, Michael says that both his wife and his mother have been by his side and have helped him throughout his darkest moments in his life so far. One of the reasons why Michael has decided to open up about his mental health issues is because he wants others out there to know that they are not alone, either. The actor hopes that his story will help his fans out there, and especially those that are in need.
Michael Muhney also wrote, “It has taken me years to publicly admit this. I’ve been afraid to share. Ashamed. Embarrassed. But on this day I want to share this story in hopes that if you’re depressed, if you’re in the dark place, talk to somebody. Get help.”
