’90 Day Fiancé’ spoilers indicate that this is the one time I genuinely feel sorry for Yazan. The guy tried to get a translator to come and help him explain to Brittany what was going on with his family, but you could tell that in the end, he chickened out and I’m not sure if the translator wanted to go into all that detail for him either.
Maybe he just didn’t want to air his dirty laundry to a perfect stranger, maybe he was embarrassed about the whole thing (I can’t say I blame him) either way, the translator thing didn’t turn out quite as expeced because Brittany needed even more information. The bad thing is, she said she wanted to talk to a member of Yazan’s family. This is a bad idea. A very bad idea.
’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers: The one where Brittany couldn’t leave well-enough alone
I mean, granted, she’s going to discuss things with Obaida, Yazan’s brother, but still, after what Sumit’s brother pulled I’m not totally convinced that Obaida wouldn’t run and pull a real snitch move too. Thankfully, they had the translator along for this too.
The two met without Yazan present, because Brittany felt that that way, Obaida would be more open and honest about the situation with her.
Her assumption, thankfully, seemed to be on the money because Obaida was pretty open and honest, he told her that the family was afraid that Yazan was going to marry a foreigner and essentially change his entire culture for a woman and they view that as a personal affront and that now he has family members who genuinely hate him and want to kill him. Poor Brittany broke down in tears.
In Yazan’s culture, his family believes that what he’s doing just isn’t Yazan’s doing, that he is affecting the entire family by being with Brittany. She knew how much Yazan loved his family and it was genuinely hard for him to be in this position.
She said she didn’t want for him to lose his brother, and Obaid said he wouldn’t, thankfully, that if the entire world stood against Yazan he’d be there standing by him. (Oh hey, Obaida, you might want to have a word with Amit about this, just sayin’.) At one point she even offered to convert to Islam if that would help matters.
’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers: But Obaida said no.
He said that Islam is a thing that you need to convert to by conviction, not to appease someone else. I’m glad he said that because conversion is kind of a major thing and if you’re not feeling the tenets of a certain religion, you shouldn’t do it.
He did say that he would cover for them though, the only thing that he required of Brittany was to take care of Yazan and be there for him because he was technically alone, to which Brittany agreed. So now here comes the real test, is Brittany going to abide by what she said or will the family’s pressure get to Yazan in the end? Stay tuned!!!
