’90 Day Fiancé’ spoilers indicate that Ariela made the final decision on little Avi being circumcised, she said an emphatic no. At least not right now.
They were going to do it at the hospital right after he had his shots but Ariela’s Mama Bear instinct kicked in and she said no. She didn’t feel right about the situation so she picked up little Avi and got out of there as fast she could, much to the cultural chagrin of Father, Biniyam.
’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers: Ariela says no!
He said that she left without saying goodbye and apparently in Ethiopia that is considered a sign of disrespect to one’s elders. Ariela wasn’t concerned about respect when she walked out of that hospital, she was only concerned about her little 8 day old baby boy, Avi.
She had previously said that the circumcision felt wrong, that she felt like she was taking away a choice for him. Biniyam did not feel that way and felt that because of cultural reasons that he should be circumcised anyway but Ariela said that she did not feel right about it right now.
She said that eventually, yes, she would agree to the circumcision but not that day because he had been upset earlier because of the shots and was crying and she didn’t want to be in more pain from the surgery.
Biniyam said something slightly concerning, that they believe that if done young enough that the baby doesn’t experience pain. I am sincerely hoping that they don’t think that babies under a certain age don’t experience pain because that’s positively medieval.
Back in the early days of medicine there was a belief that babies did not experience pain so surgeries were done on babies with no anasthetic! It’s amazing that anyone survived, although I’m sure a few did… poor things. Yike. So, what is Ariela waiting on? I’m hoping that she’s waiting to get Avi circumcised back in the US… where there are painkillers.
Could that be why she and Avi are rumored to be back in the US now? I mean, I wouldn’t exactly blame her if she waited to get him to a US hospital for such a surgery. After all, a staph infection is hard to fight in a developing country like Ethiopia. Stay tuned!!!
