In a very strange turn of events, 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After cast member, Usman Umar told his fiancé, Kim Menzies, that he would like to adopt his nephew. This decision has shocked her and she isn’t quite sure how to take it.
This will change their entire future and she knows that things will never be the same if this happens. Usman wants to do this as soon as possible so that he can take him to America after Kim and Usman are married.

This season has been very interesting for both Kim and Usman. They fought hard to get his mother’s blessing so that they could get married and Kim also agreed that she would allow him to take a second wife. Just when they thought that they were in the clear and that they would be getting the visa going and ready to take their relationship to the next step, Kim’s lawyer told them that in the United States, since polygamy is illegal, Usman could lose his visa if he married again.

This has really made Kim nervous for the future because she feels as if he won’t marry her if he can’t have another wife. Kim has one child and he has moved out on his own now and she doesn’t want to raise a child again. Then Usman drops a bomb on her.
Usman tells Kim that he wants to adopt his brother’s son and raise him in the states. Of course, Kim is shocked by this and Usman tells her that in Nigeria all of the children in the family are seen as their own, so this is perfectly normal to do.
Usman tells the cameras, “If getting second wife is not something that can happen, I think adopting my nephew, Mahadi, would be the best idea. Because it is important in my culture and tradition to have child. But the connection between me and Mahadi is more important. Like, it’s something, like, I feel him. Like, I’m very close to him, he’s very close to me. I love him. And I was thinking I would definitely love to take him to the U.S. so that he will not be as struggling as others struggling here.”
He went on, “Adopting Mahadi is not the best option for my mom, but it’s something that she can accept ’cause my family said that I need to have my own blood to be my son and Mahadi is my brother’s child. So, we are blood.”
