Prince Harry severs formal ties to Britain and declares the United States his primary residence despite the possibility of deportation due to drug use.
Harry Updated Business Records To Show US Citizenship
Harry has updated his business records to show he is a US citizen. Before this, he stated that his residence was in the United Kingdom.
The Duke and Duchess relocated to the US in January 2020 after stepping down from their royal duties.
The filings published by Companies House recorded Harry’s full name: Prince Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex.
Interestingly enough, the business documents also show that he chose the day that he and Meghan moved out of Frogmore Cottage as the date his formal US citizenship began.
Royal experts surmised that Harry was very hurt by his father, King Charles’s decision to force him to vacate Frogmore Cottage, and that’s when he realized he was officially no longer a member of the Firm.
Charles and Prince William knew they had to boot the Sussexes to show that they were no longer working members of the royal family and, therefore, would not receive the same privileges.
They put their respective feet down and said, like it or not, these are the rules. Harry and Meghan officially vacated Frogmore Cottage in June 2023. It has been a wedding gift from his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth.
When visiting the UK, the couple considered the cottage the “last safe space” for them and their family. Harry has remarked that he wanted his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to feel welcome when they visit Britain.
Prince Harry May Need To Renounce His Royal Titles
Harry declaring US citizenship also means he may need to relinquish his royal titles. The Heritage Foundation has been pressuring Joe Biden’s administration to release Harry’s visa records, which may or may not prove that he lied on his application about his past drug use.
The Duke admitted in his tell-all book, “Spare,” that he had used marijuana, cocaine, and magic mushrooms to help him heal from the death of his mother, Princess Diana. This kind of information can prevent an immigrant from entering the US.
Harry changed the documents for his sustainable travel firm, Travelyst, to demonstrate that his home is in the US, not the UK.
Royal author Phil Dampier said that Harry’s actions make it evident that he is still very upset about being ejected from Frogmore Cottage and not having anywhere to call home when he does go to see his family in England.
“As always, with Harry, a lot can be read into his actions,” Dampier commented. “Being ousted from Frogmore cottage wounded him deeply. Now he’s shown he accepts life in the US.”
His change of residence suggests that he intended to make the US his permanent home. That is, if he doesn’t get deported.
Former President Donald Trump said that he would boot Harry out of the country for disrespecting the Queen if he were president. It doesn’t seem likely to occur as long as Biden is in office.
The Duke is in a significant aiminglegal battle over potential public exposure of his visa application. It looks like Harry is fighting the battle by procl his US citizenship.
