It looks like ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers is going to have to get used to either a new Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) or none after reports indicate the actor isn’t returning to the show.
TVline.com broke the story about the actor not coming back, citing several sources.
Since he nor the show have officially announced anything, this it speculation, but it looks likely that the show will either have to recast or leave Spencer deceased for now.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Going out a hero
The actor was expected to take a brief hiatus from the show to film another series on Netflix called ‘Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story’ but it looks like he’s not coming back.
During the March 29 ending credits, fans noticed that his name was no longer in those credits, something that contracted talent were always listed on.
If his role as Spencer is over, he went out as a hero by saving his girlfriend, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) from Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) by taking her overboard with him into the Seine River in France.
While it looks like he’s not coming back, it is important to note that Rena Sofer was also removed from the credits, but that could mean they were moved to recurring roles for the foreseeable future.
This would mean the show could have hopes that he’ll return and they haven’t decided to move on from Nicholas yet and that’s why no announcement has been made.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Curious timing
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers are curious as to what prompted this as he was expected to return and he’s shown a lot of appreciation for the show previously.
It could be any number of things, but maybe one of them has to do with what Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks) mentioned on the Daily Drama Podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Damian Spinelli).
They covered a few topics, and one of them is the new writing team. Eden said that when they came in they wanted a fresh slate, which meant they wanted to break everyone up.
So they broke up Joss and Dex Heller (Evan Hofer), and she said she thinks they were going to do the same to Sprina (Spencer and Trina).
That would’ve set the fans off since they’re a beloved couple and have been compared to Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) and Laura Collins (Genie Francis) by many.
That could be part of the reason Nicholas isn’t returning, but it’s just pure speculation on our part.
