Britney Spears has a lawyer miracle worker, Mathew Rosengart, who allegedly emailed her father, Jamie Spears’s legal team, to negotiate a settlement in their ongoing legal dispute.
According to Rosengart, Jamie is in bad health, and it might be a beneficial time to admit his blunders during the time of the conservatorship.
Britney’s team is asking that Jamie pay Britney an unspecified sum so the two sides can end their dispute. One of Rosengart’s claims was that Britney’s father authorized the illegal surveillance of Britney’s phone.
Mathew Rosengart’s Main Problem
The main problem for Britney’s lawyer in proving these allegations is that the statute of limitations passed over a year ago, and he never filed a lawsuit stating this claim.
Of course, Jamie denies these allegations and demands that Britney pay his legal fees connected with the conservatorship.
It’s been two years since the conservatorship ended in November 2021. However, Jamie continues to fight, and the lawyers on either side have different ideas of why this dispute isn’t over.
Britney’s lawyer explains, “Britney won when we obtained the court-ordered suspension of her father. Britney won when the courts freed her from an abusive 13-year conservatorship. After being deprived of certain fundamental rights for 13 years, Britney’s civil liberties were restored, and that’s always what this was about.”
Jamie’s lawyer, Alex Weingarten, claims that Rosengart’s main objective was to see Jamie go to jail.
In September 2022, almost a year after the arrangement ended, a judge ruled in favor of the “Baby One More Time” singer to have her father sit down for a deposition and denied Jamie’s request to have Britney questioned.
Jamie Spears Allegedly Monitored Britney Spears Communications
However, Rosengart allegedly refused to settle. Jamie received $6 million for his role as conservator. Britney’s lawyer wants him to cover his legal fees since he worked pro bono for Britney after making $4 million representing the pop icon.
This settlement would negate Weingarten’s claims that Rosengart is trying to settle. A man named Alex Vlasov, was working for Black Box Security from 2012 to 2021. He said that the “Gimme More” singer’s phone was indeed being monitored.
The purpose was to monitor Britney’s conversations with others. Such monitoring and surveillance violate Britney’s privacy and civil liberties. Jamie also allegedly directed others to violate her privacy illegally.
It shouldn’t come to anyone as a shock, considering the man wanted to control Britney’s every move and all her choices, right down to the drink she ordered from Starbucks that day.
During her time in shackles, Jamie forced her to take birth control and take medications like lithium.
In a court appearance that was in part what swayed the judge to rule in the “Toxic” singer’s favor, she had this to say,
“Ma’am, my dad and anyone involved in this conservatorship, and my management, who played huge roles in punishing me when I said no (to going on tour), should be in jail.”
Jamie’s abuse of Britney during the conservatorship is well-documented.
A trial to address the illegal surveillance is reportedly set for May 2024. The FBI should still have time to nail Jamie to the wall for his actions.
