It took literally one minute for the House of Gucci to fail the Jeffree Star approval test. They released a $49 blush, which, Jeffree just said had six shades. That was one downside of it, another downside was the packaging which Jeffee Star sneezed at and said “For almost $50, this is what you’re getting!” granted, it was really, really simple packaging, not quite dollar store but not what we would expect from a high-end brand like Gucci either.
(Then again, the pandemic was hard on everyone, I suppose.) He also said that he hated the smell of it “that rose smell” as he described it.
House of Gucci fails to get Jeffree Star approved
He said that the finish was supposed to be “matte” but also “luminous” which is kind of an oxymoron considering the two words are complete opposites on the finish spectrum if one knows anything about makeup.
Luminous usually means “shiny” or has a sheen to it, and “matte” is a term for flat color with no shimmer or sheen, so, which is it Gucci? He has a point in calling it out because at this point it sounds like they’re having 14 year olds who are pretending to be makeup gurus write the descriptions. Come on!
Of the line, Jeffree only bought three of the blushes – which, is understandable considering he already wasn’t thrilled with them even before opening them. You could definitely tell that he wanted to be though, as did everyone else. Also, $150 is a lot to spend on just blush and he has a point, for that much money Gucci could have invested and released a pallette to go along with their blushes as well.
Then again, it’s Gucci, if a makeup line fails then they’re not so hard-pressed. seeing as their main focus is actually fashion, if this were say, a handbag or shoes, or even perfume, heads would be rolling, but makeup? Not so much. Also just because it’s not Jeffree Star approved doesn’t mean that it wouldn’t be approved by the die-hard Gucci consumer, after all, one’s man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Stay tuned!!!
