While the Britney Spears conservatorship battle with her father has ended after what seems like forever, and droves of Britney fans have been in full force defending her, there’s one person who thinks it might have been a good thing and actually helped her.
Her ex-husband and father of her children, Kevin Federline thinks that her father’s conservatorship might have been for the best. Additionally, he asserts that he thinks her father Jamie Spears’s contentious 13-year conservatorship “saved” her. Last November, Britney was finally freed from the contract, which had many restrictions on her personal and financial life. But Kevin is now motivated by the possibility that his wife’s very public struggles will have an effect on their teenage sons.
Kevin Federline Claims Conservatorship SAVED Britney Spears Life Despite Popular Opinion
“This whole thing has been hard to watch, harder to live through, harder to watch my boys go through than anything else,” Kevin says. “It’s been tough. It’s the most challenging thing I’ve ever had to do in my life.”
And throughout the ongoing Britney saga, there have been numerous parenting difficulties. The 40-year-old star has continued to draw attention since being released from her conservatorship last year and has started posting nude selfies on social media. Kevin claims that at the time, he felt compelled to apologize to the boys for any backlash they might have received as a result.
The 2021 documentary Framing Britney Spears’ release added to the intense media scrutiny surrounding that conservatorship, which in turn sparked the growth of a global movement to end the conservatorship that was largely conducted online and went by the hashtag “FreeBritney.”
Britney broke her silence during a court hearing four months after the documentary aired, saying, “I just want my life back,” and pleading with the judge to end the conservatorship. She continued, “It’s enough and it makes absolutely no sense.” I’m through.
Kevin might be right, and especially after going back to 2008 and what Britney was going through, it made sense. Should it have lasted as long as it did? Maybe not, but I think he may have a point.
