She’s going back to doing what she does best, and that’s making music. A source has confirmed to People that Britney Spears is collaborating with Elton John on a new version of his 1972 single Tiny Dancer, produced by Andrew Watt, and will be released next month by Universal Music. Here’s what you need to know.
Six years after she last released newly recorded music, Spears met with John in a Beverly Hills recording studio for a new version of the song, reports Page Six. This follows a recent Instagram post in which Spears sings her mega-hit Baby One More Time. In the caption alongside the video, she wrote: “I haven’t shared my voice in an extremely long time.”
Britney Spears Planning Comeback With Elton John
She added that she had been wanting to re-record the song but was not allowed to do so during her 14-year conservatorship, which ended in November 2021. The re-recorded duet will be the second time John collaborates with a muso using one of his past hits. He and Dua Lipa scored a hit with Cold, Cold Heart, a mashup of his hits Rocket Manand Sacrifice, last year.
After a rather turbulent year (that did see positive results at the end), it looks like Brit Brit is getting ready to get back to work. One source close to the situation told ET Online, “Britney is actively eyeing different brand deals and entertainment opportunities.
Several brands have reached out to her with amazing offers and nothing is off the table. She’s excited to put her businesswoman hat on in the new year and explore different ventures that weren’t available to her in the past.”
This all comes as Britney has finally regained the power to make her own decisions in her life again. Britney was freed from her 13-year conservatorship back in November. She said at the time that she wanted to see both of her parents – which also includes her mother Lynne Spears – in jail for their participation in her conservatorship in which she had no control of her own life, both personally and professionally speaking.
“Britney is her own decision maker now and she wants to expand her professional horizons. She’s just waiting for the right time for everything,” the source continued.
For Britney, she’s been incredibly grateful to have her bank cards back and has enjoyed simple things such as driving on her own again.
“I’ve been in a conservatorship for 13 years. It’s a really long time to be in a situation you don’t want to be in,” Spears said in an Instagram video. “I’m just grateful, honestly, for each day. Being able to have the keys to my car, and being able to be independent, and feel like a woman. Owning an ATM card, seeing cash for the first time, being able to buy candles. It’s the little things for us women, but it makes a huge difference. I’m grateful for that. It’s nice. It’s really nice.”
