Well, you can’t say that he’s not doing anything with his time these days, right? There’s a new report that says Prince Charles is promising to replenish the “dwindling” ancient woods as a special project in honor of Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee. Here’s what you need to know.

According to new reports, Prince Charles has called for the nation’s “dwindling” historic natural habitat to be renewed, as he unveiled a vast collection of ancient woodlands and trees dedicated to his mother to mark her Platinum Jubilee. Charles said these “precious” assets, which support biodiversity and provide materials for craft workers, need to be preserved for future generations.

Among the 70 ancient woodlands and 70 trees dedicated to the Queen are some of the nation’s most natural features, from the Boscobel Oak in Shropshire, a descendant of the tree Charles II used to hide from parliamentary forces in 1651, to Sussex’s Five Hundred Acre – the inspiration for 100 Acre Wood in the children’s classic Winnie The Pooh.

The prince is patron of the Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC), a tree-planting initiative which has been encouraging people to plant a tree to create a legacy in honor of the Queen to mark her 70 years on the throne – dubbed “treebilee.”

That’s not the only thing Charles has been doing lately. Meanwhile, and just last month, Charles used his Easter message to pray for refugees. The future King of England highlighted their plight as thousands of Ukrainians continue to seek sanctuary from fighting in their homeland, following in the footsteps of millions of refugees who have already fled the Russian invasion.

It comes as the government announced a controversial new immigration plan – to send those deemed to have entered Britain by unlawful means to Rwanda where they will be permitted to apply for asylum in the African country.

He said meeting the “innocent victims of conflict” over the years, he had found it “profoundly moving” to see the numbers of people ready to invite those in need into their homes. Charles also said it was an “enormous privilege“ to perform the ancient ceremony of distributing Maundy money to community stalwarts at Thursday’s Royal Maundy service, on behalf of the Queen who was unable to attend.
