Duke basketball standout Paolo Banchero is not NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and Martin Brundle had to learn that the hard way, live on air! The former race car driver-turned-broadcaster was in the middle of his coverage of Sunday’s Grand Prix in Miami where he was speaking to people for interviews on the speedway.
Unfortunately, he had a big blunder for mistaken identity. Brundle makes his way through the crowd, shouting ‘Patrick. Patrick!’, as Paolo continues to walk by and ign0re him. The moment, captured on live television can be seen below.
“Martin Brundle is killing me man. That isn’t Patrick Mahomes man! 🤣

Martin Brundle Confuses Duke Basketball Star For NFL QB Patrick Mahomes At Grand Prix
After a few moments of the interview, Brundle realizes that Paolo isn’t Patrick Mahomes and tells him that he thought he was someone else. However, the funniest part may be when Brundle ends the interview, walks away and just mutters, “whatever” into the microphone. A seriously funny moment that was captured live.
These awkward moments seem to happen to Brundle a lot while he’s down on the track. He tried to interview Megan Thee Stallion which made for another memorable moment on television.

At the end of the day, while Paolo Banchero wasn’t Patrick, he was a very good sport and didn’t make any bones about the mix up and went on with the short interview anyway.
We look forward to the next time Brundle’s down on the track and we get to hear yet another famous moment from him. I wonder if he’ll mistake another celeb or have a blunder like Megan Thee Stallion. Tough luck Brundle. Keep up the great work.
