The man who tackled comedian Dave Chappelle on stage said that among other reasons, he was ‘triggered’ by Chappelle’s LGBT jokes and that’s why he rushed him on stage. This, after he claimed that it was to send a message about his grandmother being forced out of her home.
23-year-old Isaiah Lee did an interview with the New York Post and explained why he attacked the comedian, and says that he was offended by the jokes and wanted him to know it. Lee is quoted as saying, “I identify as bisexual … and I wanted him to know what he said was triggering. I wanted him to know that next time, he should consider first running his material by people it could affect.”

Chappelle has openly stated that he has no issues with anyone, but everything he says is simply a joke, and tells people that they took his ‘Closer’ content out of context and warped it.
Outside of those jokes, Lee also expresses his anger over Dave’s jokes about homelessness as he himself has experienced it at a young age. Lee said, “I’m also a single dad and my son is five. It’s a struggle and I wanted Dave Chappelle to know it’s not a joke.“
