Fat Joe says Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars makes minorities look bad because Smith resorted to violence over a joke. TMZ spoke to Fat Joe in New York City and he believes that Will made things worse for their culture and that it will have an impact on minorities.
Fat Joe is no stranger to confrontation, as he had a longtime ‘beef’ with rapper 50 Cent, but he believes that because Smith got violent, it’s a hundred times worse and while Joe is sympathetic to Will and the situation, he doesn’t believe that was the solution.
The reporter asks Joe, “as a minority, do you think it makes us look bad?” He responded, “Of course it does.” Before continuing to talk about Smith saying, “It’s sad because Will‘s such a beautiful person but he’s taking the hit.” Joe ended his response, “But it’s unfortunate because people are looking at the saying we don’t know how to act.”

You can tell that Joe has a tremendous amount of respect for Will while speaking about him, and explains that he has done so much and worked so hard, but in a single moment it’s like everything went away. “He’s the best we got,” Joe said about the Oscar-winning actor.
Unfortunately, when people look at how Will Smith acted, Joe believes it’s an example for people to say that minorities don’t know how to act. It’s a blanket statement and one that many people may find trouble with understanding, but for the country as a whole, Joe may be right.
