To the tune of $1.25M in damages! Apparently, in 2009 (yes, that long ago) blogger Tasha K claimed that Cardi B was an escort and that she had herpes, claims that the singer has denied and has since said caused her not only problems in her marriage to hubby Offset (so much so that they had to seek counseling) but even so that Cardi B kept getting attacked online by random people on Instagram asking if she should even have contact with her daughter, Kulture, if she had herpes.
Cardi B Wins In Court Against Blogger Tasha K
Cardi B said that these claims made her suicidal, and even went on to provide the court with medical records stating that not once had she ever had herpes. One can’t help but feel a lot of sympathy for Cardi B in this instance because these are some serious and rather disgusting accusations, you kind of have to wonder just what on earth the blogger’s ultimate goal was here besides slander.
There are some legitimate train wrecks of people that get famous, and then there are some who get famous and get a hatchet job done to their reputation, case in point, Cardi B.
To think that this extended to potentially affect the life of her child is even more heartbreaking. The court of public opinion is a tricky thing, when it’s on your side, then you may be in the clear even though in the eyes of the law you are completely guilty.
If it’s not on your side then you get potentially continually crucified for the rest of your life for things that you may not actually be guilty of. So, in that sense, Cardi B’s win is a win for all people that have had their reputations wrecked, at least by this particular blogger.
As for the blogger herself, she said that she, her hubby, and their lawyers fought hard, but it was ‘back to work’ for her. Yeah it looks like she may be working for a long time in order to pay off that $1.25M price tag. Stay tuned!!!
