Mark Zuckerberg already ran into some issues with his new announcement of the Metaverse and Meta becoming the umbrella company, renaming from Facebook. As it turns out, someone already trademarked Meta. The Meta PC company that sells computers, laptops, tablets, and software has operated for more than a year under that name, and last August, they trademarked Meta.
This draws some issues for Zuckerberg, who will need to pay up to avoid a lawsuit. The founders of the company, Joe Darger and Zack Shutt are asking for $20 million to withdraw the registration application and free the name of ‘Meta’.
Just before Halloween, Shutt shared a short video on social media declaring that Meta PC’s would now be known as Facebook, as a joke.

META PC’s Jokes About Changing Their Name To Facebook After Mark Zuckerberg Announces New Metaverse
Several specialists speculate that Zuckerberg will most likely agree to pay the amount for the trademark. One of the arguments for this is that the Facebook CEO has already invested so much into the creation of Meta and a simple roadblock like a trademark would seem like no big deal.
Of course, $20 million to Zuckerberg is literally pocket change compared to the $124 billion that Zuckerberg is estimated at.
In the meantime, Meta PC’s is having a ball, sharing funny memes and videos trying to capitalize off the spotlight. What will Meta PC’s change their name to should they actually sell their trademark? Will $20 million be enough for the owners to retire or will they double down on their business?
It definitely looks like Zuckerberg should have done his homework. Something so small yet obvious seems like it should have been taken care of before he even announced the Metaverse.
What do you think? Do you think Zuckerberg will get his trademark and what will the owners of Meta PC do? Let us know in the comments below.
