’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers finds that we all breathed a sigh of relief when Armando Rubio’s cousin called him and said that his Dad had changed his mind about coming to the wedding. Initially, Armando’s entire family had a hard time coming to grips with the fact that he is gay and in a relationship with another man, Kenny Neidermeyer, something that is not widely accepted in Mexico, even though in the Mexican State where they reside, same sex marriage is indeed legal.
(Although they got a lot of run-around from the government initially about that, but thankfully due to COVID now government offices aren’t making same sex couples jump through as many hoops to recognize their union.) Armando’s Dad in particular was having a problem with his union.
’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers: Armando Rubio’s Dad changes his mind
Initally, he said that he didn’t know if he would show up to their wedding or not, he gave the excuse that he was needed at home and that he may not have time to attend his son’s wedding. Even though Armando told him time and time again how important it would be for him to attend their wedding, he said that his Dad would respond in one-word texts and not really engage with him other than that.
It was quite disenheartening to hear, because his Dad had previously expressed that he was okay with Armando being in a relationship with Kenny, but since a wedding is often considered a religious ceremony, especially in a place like Mexico, that might have been part of the problem.
However it looks like the rest of Armando’s family has come to terms with the whole same sex marriage thing, and went to bat for him behind closed doors and actually convinced his Father to come to the wedding, which is such a wonderful thing to hear.
Kenny and Armando have fought really hard to be together and be married in a land that doesn’t readily accept them, so now it seems they’ve won an important battle and that was getting Armando’s Dad to fully accept their relationship. We look forward to seeing what the wedding will look like because it looks like they’re going to throw a grand fiesta. Stay tuned!!!
