On 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, we have seen Armando Rubio trying to get his parents to love him even though he is gay. He has had a lot of struggles with them ever since he announced that he was dating a man and now, on the show, he is engaged to Kenny Niedermeier and they are planning a wedding.
His parents do not approve of their relationship with one another, but Armando is working hard to try and change their minds.
90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way – Armando Rubio Chats With Mother About Wedding
Armando and his mother are very close and it seems as if he is just trying to get her approval. The couple is planning their wedding and he wants nothing more than his parents to be there and give him away. This is not what they have in mind though. In the spoilers for the next episode, Armando confronts his mother about his sexuality and it is pretty emotional.
He tells cameras, “It’s our second day in San Felipe, and while I decided not to tell my parents about our wedding plans last night, I can’t wait any longer- I need to talk to them. We’re already starting to plan the wedding and I think it’s better for them to know now, so they can start planning as well if they’re going to be there for us. I decided to tell my mom first before approaching my dad, because I remember when I told my whole family I was engaged, she was like, ‘You should have told me first.’ I also want to find out what I have to do to approach my dad.”
Armando gets very emotional during his chat with her and he just wants to convey to his mother how happy Kenneth makes him and how much he loves him. His mother did not tell his father about his engagement yet, but she is waiting for the right time to tell him about Kenny and Armando. She tells him that she couldn’t bring herself to tell him.
He tells cameras, “Last year, my mom told me not to tell my dad about our engagement. She said she would be the one to tell him when she saw fit, but I never thought she wouldn’t ever tell him. And so it kind of makes me wonder if she’s still struggling with it herself, can’t come to terms with it and therefore can’t even talk to my dad about it.”
