Youtuber Shane Dawson Wants To Return To Making Movies

On a recent episode of The Sip with Ryland Adams, Shane Dawson was interviewed. Yup, that Shane Dawson, the same cancelled youtuber that we haven’t heard from in over a year – except for the continual plugging of his merch over on instagram.

Looks like as far as revenue goes, he’s still living, even through lockdown. A lot of us expected him to come back during COVID lockdown but that didn’t happen, honestly a lot of his old food hacks related content would have been entertaining during lockdown, but Shane has said that he find such things triggery, so, we’ll let him stay in his instagram bubble.

However on The Sip he said that he would love to come back to youtube at some point, but he hasn’t really felt inspired to come back. Considering a lot of his humor would be problematic, even on his older food hack and taste testing videos, one can see where he would be at a loss for words.

He said that he loved making the documentaries, but he also said that at some point he would like to make a new horror film and even said that durign his downtime he had managed to write two screenplays. I mean, we admire the productivity but…

Most of us remember what Shane Dawson’s horror movies were like, don’t we? I mean, it’s been a minute, but if we don’t we can always go and watch Nick DiRamio’s channel where he literally watched every Shane Dawson movie in his catalogue so that we didn’t have to and let’s just admire for one moment just how much that man sacrificed for the good of humanity. Either way, do we really want or need another Shane Dawson homemade youtube production?

Granted Shane has partnered with Jeffree Star on a makeup collab and made a considerable amount of money in 2019 when the collab was released and basically broke shopify. However, just because one has the money doesn’t always mean one has the skill.

If Shane could partner with an actual production company and could actually… take direction for once in one of his projects (watch The Chair on Starz to see what I’m talking about) and maybe if he didn’t insist on everything being written for a 15 year old high school boy audience then maybe, just maybe, he’d have a chance at the filmmaking industry.

But he might also be just living a pipe dream because he got cancelled over pretending to be aroused by Willow Smith, Will Smith’s then underage daughter, in a clip tha the insisted was for a joke that just wasn’t that funny. It garnered the attention Jada Pinkett Smith and she was not having it, she was a mad Mama Bear and she had every right to be.

Shane apologized but it looks like the damage was done, he hasn’t said a peep online since. The Smiths have connections in the industry, connections dating back to when Shane was still in diapers, so if he’s intending on getting in the actual industry… that could take a lot of… something. We’re not sure what, but at least right now he isn’t expecting too much. Stay tuned!!!
