‘Dancing with the Stars’ spoilers find that only one week into the 30th season of the dance competition, pro dancer Cheryl Burke has shared the upsetting news that she has contracted Covid-19.
Immediately her celebrity partner–Peloton trainer, Cody Rigsby was tested. His test came back negative.
Cheryl will be out of the competition for a minimum of 10 days as she quarantines, meaning two episodes, however Cody didn’t get taken out of the game. The judges and viewers were able to watch one of the duo’s latest Salsa routine rehearsals and score the pair from that taped ‘performance’.

Both Cody and Cheryl zoomed in to receive their scores. Though Cody tested negative, production remained cautious and kept him away from the ballroom.
The rehearsal performance earned Cheryl and Cody 6’s across the board and Cody seemed to be confident he will be back next week for “Britney Week”.
This year the performers of Dancing with the Stars are not required to stay isolated within their bubble as they were in the previous season. Cheryl and Cody, both double-vaxxed have been commuting to New York City for rehearsals so Cody- who had Covid back in February- can keep teaching his Peloton classes.
“I feel so bad. I feel so bad for Cody, I feel like I’m letting him down. I just feel like s**t and it’s so overwhelming,” said Burke in an emotional video filmed in her car directly after she received her results. “It’s Sunday and the show’s tomorrow… I just hope I didn’t spread it.”
She continued, “For those of you who don’t think COVID is a real thing, it’s f**king real. I have to quarantine for 10 days, I’ve been ordered to stay home,” said Burke. “I can’t believe this happened.”
Burke joined Dancing with the Stars in Season 2 and has won the competition twice, with partners Drew Lachey and Emmitt Smith. She has been receiving supportive messages from her fellow pros and competitors including partner Cody, and celeb dancer, The Talk co-host, Amanda Kloots whose husband, Nick Cordero died from Covid-19 last year.
