It’s the moment that the #FreeBritney movement have all been waiting for, Jamie Spears, Father of Britney Spears, has officially filed for termination of the 13 year long conservatorship that has led to a life of hell for the pop star.
From controlling her diet, to her reproductive rights, to all of her money, there has been one person at the helm all this time, and that has been Jamie Spears, and everyone in the family, him, her Mom, and her younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears, have all stood to financially gain from this conservatorship while Britney was forced to do things like drug rehab – when she didn’t even have a drug habit! (A contact high at a concert does not a drug habit make, excuse me.)
Britney Spears’ Father files to terminate conservatorship
Just last week, Jamie Spears said that he would be her conservator for life, but now he seems to be going for the gold in the world’s fastest backpedaling competition!
Now he’s saying that recent events have basically nullified the need for a conservatorship in the first place and that he never forced his daughter to endure any kind of rehab stints (okay bro, go off) and is even saying that the conservatorship helped Britney during a ‘major life crisis’ and has allowed her to ‘rehabilitate and advance her career and put her finances and affairs in order’ a statement which is leaving the rest of us blinking in confusion.
Another statement which left us blinking in confusion was this one, “As Jamie has said again and again, all he wants is what is best for his daughter. If Ms. SPears wants to terminate the conservatorship and believes that she can handle her own life, Mr. Spears believes that she should get that chance.”
Where was this attitude 13 years ago?! Seriously, who had the ‘come to Jesus’ meeting with this guy because we would all like to know just who or what on earth came to him and told him that he needed to be the one to let go.
There is speculation that Jamie is trying to avoid jailtime and a criminal investigation, and that is the reason why he’s decided to step down now.
However… the entire movement feels that this is a power move on Jamie’s part, there’s also the fact that these papers were releaed to the media before they were actually legally filed and the discovrey that as the conservatorship stands, if Jamie is ever found guilty of any criminal wrongdoing he would be responsible for a $47M bond to the LA County Court. If he steps down, then he is no longer financially liable for this. Like everything else in this case, it all boils down to money.
The one good thing about this new petition is the fact that the stipulations for ending the conservatorship no longer depend on Britney getting another psych evaluation – thank God! She didn’t want that, and neither did we. Stay tuned!!!
