There are new reports that say Britney Spears’ alleged assault case is being given to prosecutors. Earlier this month, it was reported that the pop star allegedly struck her housekeeper during an argument.
But her lawyer Mathew Rosengart dismissed the claims as “overblown sensational tabloid fodder.” Here’s what you need to know.
New reports say that Captain Eric Buschow of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the case has been handed to prosecutors. The Ventura County District Attorney’s office will decide if the singer should be charged with an offense.
Britney Spears’ Legal Problems Are Just Getting Worse
“It is routine for a matter like this to be sent to the DA’s misdemeanor unit,” former federal prosecutor Mathew Rosengart said in a statement to the press last week. “To its credit, the Sheriff’s Department has already acknowledged that the matter, even as alleged, involved an ‘extremely minor’ or ‘very minor’ misdemeanor, with obviously ‘no injuries.’”
This is nothing more than sensational tabloid fodder – an alleged misdemeanor involving a ‘he said she said’ regarding a cell phone, with no striking and obviously no injury whatsoever,” Rosengart continued. “Anyone can make an accusation. This should have been closed immediately.”
Apparently, this all began when the housekeeper grew concerned over Britney’s dogs. She was worried that the dogs appeared to be dehydrated from a lack of water. The dogs had also been eating scraps of food from the table, an insider has claimed.
